NAV General Posting Setup

Gen. Posting Setup Specifies which accounts will be used to post sales, purchases, discounts, COGS, and inventory adjustments. You also set up interim accounts where you can post expected entries. The general posting setup consists of combinations of general business posting groups and general product posting groups. You can set up as many combinations as you need and link G/L accounts to each combination. After you have done this, when you fill in a line in a general journal or purchase or sales line, the program checks the General Posting Setup window to see which accounts to use for this particular combination of business group and product group.

Step-1 Go to Departments à/Financial Management/Administration/ General Posting Setup

Step-2 Go to new button.

Step-3 To fill in the General Fast Tab In this window, you must set up general business posting group codes for customers and vendors for posting purposes. In this window you must set up general product posting group codes for items or resources for posting purposes. These codes distinguish between the types of items or resources that are sold or purchased

Step-4 To fill in the Sales Fast Tab In Sales Account field enter the number of the G/L sales account to which the program will post sales transactions In Sales Credit Memo field enter the number of the G/L account to which the program will post transactions involving sales credit memos for this particular combination of business posting group and product posting group In Sales Line Diss. Account field enter the number of the G/L account to which you want the program to post customer/item and quantity discounts when you post sales transactions with this particular combination of business group and product group.

Step-5 To fill in the Purchase Fast Tab In Purchase Account field enter the number of the G/L account to which the program will post purchase transactions with this particular combination of business posting group and product posting group. In Purchase Credit Memo field enter the number of the G/L account to which the program will post transactions involving purchase credit memos for this particular combination of business posting group and product posting group. In Purchase Line Diss. Account field enter the number of the G/L account to which you want the program to post purchase line discount amounts with this particular combination of business group and product group.

Step-6 To fill in the Inventory Fast Tab In COGS Account field enter the number of the G/L account to which you want the program to post the cost of goods sold with this particular combination of business group and product group. In Inventory Adjmt. Account field enter the number of the G/L account to which you want the program to post inventory adjustments (positive and negative) with this particular combination of business posting group and product posting group. In Direct Cost Applied field enter the number of the G/L account to which the program must post the Direct Cost Applied Account (positive or negative) with this particular combination of business posting group and product posting group.
